School Club Information and Other Activity Info
Breakfast Club (Monday - Friday):
Runs from 8:00am - 8:30am (Monday - Friday) in the Gym Hall - please enter from the side entrance - please note breakfast stops being served ay 8:20am to allow staff to tidy up.
After School Clubs at Kirknewton Primary:
Simply Play (Monday - Friday):
Simply Play will be based at East Calder (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday) from 29th March, 2024. Pupils attending should meet Simply Play Leaders in the Hall and a mini bus will collect children from the school car park - Please contact Simply play directly for any information/queries.
Muddy Boots Club (TBC):
We will look to recommence this After School Club in March next year - please look out for further communication in 2025.
Football (Monday):
Will resume on Monday 13th January 2025
Please find attached a link for our after-school football clubs. Please note that both clubs will now take place on a Tuesday, starting tomorrow Tuesday 14th January. The coaches will be aiming to work outside, so please ensure that your child brings appropriate clothing to enable them to play football outside.

Balerno Schools Pipe Band (Tuesday Mornings):
To join please email: balernoschoolspipeband@gmail.com - They teach at Kirknewton primary on Tuesday mornings and have limited spaces for beginner pipers and drummers this term. They teach children from P4 upwards.
Lessons are £6 a session although support with funding can be requested. Practice chanter or drum pads would be required and the cost of this is £30. Other than that, instruments and uniforms are provided by the band. Most learners would be in a position to join the band within a couple of years of starting lessons.
P1 - P3 - Athletics Club - (Tuesday)
We are delighted to advise that we will be running an Athletics After-school club for P1 - P3 learners commencing Tuesday 25th February 2025 for a 6 week block. This is an exciting opportunity for your child to participate in fun athletics activities with friends from across the P1-P3 classes, developing fine and gross motor skills as well as having the opportunity to enhance their social skills through participation in the group. If your child is interested in joining the athletics club, please complete and return the attached form by Monday 24th February. P4 - P7 - STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) (Wednesday 19th February to Wednesday 26th March inclusive):
We are delighted to advise that we will be running a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) after-school club follow the February break. The club will be aimed at our learners in Primary 4 - 7.
P5, P6 & P7 Netball After-School Club and Festivals:
In partnership with Active Schools, a Netball after school club is available at Kirknewton PS. Please note this club will be available for 2 weeks only in the first instance. The club is open to anyone from Primary 5 to Primary 7. Please use the form below to register your interest. If your child has signed up for this, can we please remind you that they should be collected at 4.15pm from the breakfast club door.

Netball After-School Club (Thursday):
We will be starting a Netball After-School Club on Thursday 9 January. This will be every Thursday from 3.30-4.15 and is open to P5-7 children. Can you please complete the form below if your child would like to attend.
P4 - P7 - Tennis After-School Club (Thursday)
We are delighted to advise that we will be running a tennis after-school club for our P4 - P7 learners for an 8 week block commencing Thursday 6th March. The club will be led by Eoin Swan who is a qualified LTA coach who your child may have worked with in previous years during Health Week. For any young person who is interested in tennis, this is an exciting opportunity to work with a highly experienced coach to develop their fine and gross motor skills, as well as forging social relationships with learners from across the P4-P7 classes. If your child is interested in participating in this club, please complete the attached form by Wednesday 26th February 2025. P6/P7 Girls Football
WCHS are running free after school girls only football sessions on Wednesdays 3.30 - 4.30pm on their 3G pitch. If your child is P6 or 7 and would like to attend just fill in the MS form - link below.
The MS form must be completed before attending so we have all medical and emergency contact info for your child. If you filled this in last term you do not need to fill it in again.
Transport is not provided. Sessions will run every Wednesday during term time.
If this is your first session then please go to school reception when you arrive and they will arrange for someone to show the girls where to change and where the 3G pitch is. If your child has attended before they should just make their way up as usual.
When collecting your child please collect them from the Community Entrance at the front of school.
