Primary 7 have been engaged in a creative maths lesson today, utilising a range of maths and numerical skills in a real life context. They were tasked with setting up their own theme park, given a budget of £500,000. Working in pairs they were given a list of “must have” items including toilets and car parks, as well as a wish list of different rides and attractions that they could include in their theme park. Over the next 2 weeks, we will be using their theme parks to explore the nature of budgeting, the costs of running a business enterprise and how to work out whether a profit or a loss has been made. Entrepreneurial skills run strong in P7 so watch this space to see how they get on!
“This is the best maths ever!”
